Swimming will take place from Sunday 25th to Friday 30th June 2023 at the London Aquatics Centre, home of the 2012 Olympics. The championships will run in a 25 m 10 lane setup with full warm-up and cool-down facilities.
IGLA London 2023 is open to all, regardless of their race experience! There are no qualifying times and the event is open to all those ages 18 and over.
Participants are welcome to compete under their identified gender of male, female or under the open category. Swimming, however, remains a strict gender-binary sport under FINA regulation and although medals at IGLA will be awarded in accordance with your identified gender, the results (including records) will be reported to FINA and/or your National Governing Body in line with their policies. Both IGLA London 2023 and Out To Swim are committed to driving forward gender inclusion in sports.
A detailed schedule will be published in May 2023. IGLA London 2023 championships are governed by the FINA and Swim England rules and regulations and the tournament is organised under the recommendations of IGLA.
Programme
The championships will feature the following disciplines:
- Freestyle: 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500
- Breaststroke: 50, 100 and 200
- Backstroke: 50, 100 and 200
- Butterfly: 50, 100 and 200
- Individual medley: 100, 200, 400
- Relays – Freestyle 4×50, 4×100, Medley 4×50, 4×100
This schedule is subject to change. Any changes will be communicated to athletes.
Registration:
In order to take part in the competitions, each participant must be at least 18 years old, and be a licensed member from a club that is affiliated with its national governing body.
Individual entries are limited to 5 events per participant (equivalent to one entry per day of competition). This doesn’t include relay entries. Upon closing of entries, those events with additional capacity may be reopened for further entries. Participants will be notified in advance of entires reopening.
Any given participant can only be a member of one team.
Swimmers are reminded that to qualify for a British, European, World Masters, or your equivalent domestic national record their swimwear must comply with the FINA requirements.
If you take part in the swimming tournament as a second sport, please note that the timetables of sports may overlap; make sure that the dates and times of the swimming tournament are not in conflict with any of the other sports you want to participate in.
