“Equality and inclusion was cardinally important at the beginning of OTS – what does equality & inclusion mean in today’s OTS, Swimming and wider Sports”.
Join us for an open discussion on what inclusion means in sports today.
As Out To Swim celebrates 30 years of inclusive sports, we reflect on the ambitions of its inception and what it means to provide an inclusive environment for all involved in aquatic sports for the future.
From its inception, Out To Swim’s founder and early members recognized the importance of being inclusive of women, HIV swimmers, and individuals with different objectives and abilities. Many of these objectives continue to be issues that come back to discussion repeatedly. At the same time, more identities and new questions have arisen: BAME, trans, non-binary, older swimmers inclusion – and questions penetrate the wider swimming community, LGBT+ sports and sports in general.
Join us long term Out To Swim members, together with representatives within the sports sector, to explore what those values of equality and inclusion, which were so important at the outset of Out To Swim, mean in today’s world.
